It's a Beautiful Day!

Yesterday (12 March 2014) I joined the RSPB Glasgow Local Group on an outing to the Endrick Mouth/Loch Lomond NNR.

We started in Gartocharn and after a coffee and scone, we headed towards the NNR, noting Ben Lomond in the background ........

After a pleasant walk, via the 'non-muddy route', we reached the lochside. A few Goldeneye flew off as we admired the beautiful scenery; I couldn't resist taking a shot of these 3 Canada Geese as they swam into view on an absolutely flat calm loch .....

We headed through the woodlands adding birds such as Goldcrest, Treecreeper and Long-tailed Tit to our list before stopping for lunch. Here we saw birds such as Whooper Swan, Teal and Oystercatcher plus a solitary Great Crested Grebe. After leaving our lunch stop, we had a few skiens of Greylag and Pink-footed Geese but no White-fronts.

There was clear evidence of the recent rains with the RSPB's latest acquisition Wards Pond having trebled in size due to the adjoining fields being under water ......

Soon it was time to return and bring an end to a great day ....  tremendous weather,  stunning scenery and great company, what more could you ask!
