Rare Red-footed Falcon in East Lothian

 I travelled through to Aberlady Bay Local Nature Reserve in East Lothian on Friday 7 August 2026 in search of a reported Red-footed Falcon. After a trip involving two trains, a bus and a 4km walk, I got cracking views of the bird. This was only the second time I'd seen this species Scotland and it was well worth the journey.

Bingham's Pond LNR, Glasgow, Scotland

The first breeding pair of Canada Geese at the pond. The local male Mute Swan proved to be aggressive resulting in the geese spending most of their time out of the water. Only one gosling has survived.
