Hogganfield Park Local Nature Reserve - Birds of 2021

The LNR is one of my favourite places to go bird watching. I've recently prepared five short videos covering my sightings during 2021.

The link to these video (and others) can be found here Jim Coyle - YouTube

The Hogganfield 'videos' include footage and images of many of the 92 species, plus one sub species, I recorded at this wonderful reserve.

Hopefully 2022 will be even better!

Rare Goose Visits Glasgow

Things have been pretty quiet over the past few weeks with the highlights including i) the Ring-necked Duck flying back and forth between Bingham's Pond and Victoria Park pond and ii) the female Smew continuing to be present at Hogganfield Loch.

In recent days, a Ross's Goose, a rare visitor to the UK from North America, has been seen in north Glasgow accompanying  a flock of Pink-footed Geese.

I managed to catch up with it from the farm track leading from West Millichen in Glasgow towards Boclair Road.

Ross's Goose with Pink-footed Geese

A distant shot, without the benefit of a zoom lens!

The Ross's Goose was my 105th species for Millichen and my 155th for Glasgow. I wonder if there will be any more surprises over the next few months?
